Welcome...
Welcome to the home of the Sensory Learning Center™ - Newnan, GA. We appreciate you
stopping by, and hope that you find the information useful.
My name is Tara Mulvany, and I'm an Occupational Therapist (OT). My husband and
I own a pediatric therapy practice in a suburb of Atlanta. I have dedicated the
past several years of my professional life to helping improve the lives of the
children that I treat. Providing services that help to produce the highest
functional outcomes for our clients is a key goal for both myself and my staff members.
It is for this reason that I got involved with the Sensory LearningSM Program.
One of the parents of the children I treat asked me if I had ever heard of this
program. I hadn't, so I ltrooked into it for her because she wanted my opinion on it.
Upon first inspection, it seemed that the program focused on attempting to "integrate the senses"...
and since Sensory Integration is a theory developed by an Occupational Therapist,
I felt it was very important to look into the details of how the program worked.
We use a sensory integrative approach in our practice everyday... I have a thorough
understanding of how and why Sensory Integration works. After much research,
several conversations with the creator of the Sensory Learning program, and a
trip out to Colorado to see the Institute for myself, we decided to offer the
Sensory Learning Program out of our new facility.
It works. It's amazing, and it works! We have seen so many participants come
through the Program here and realize substantial improvements and changes. As
with any program, different people are going to see different results, and some
may be more dramatic than others. Nevertheless, 92% of the participants who go
through the program report improvements. We have seen improved auditory processing,
better balance and coordination, greatly improved eye contact and "presence",
improved situational awareness, more confidence, general visual processing improvements,
changes to more age-appropriate behaviors (in a few cases, it's bittersweet, but it
is typical!)... the list goes on and on.
I am honored to have been the first OT to incorporate this intervention into my
practice. It is not the final solution, but it is an integral part to helping
individuals on the road to function. This program is an invaluable tool that
should definitely be considered as a foundational intervention in your rehabilitation plans.
I encourage you to fill out the online survey. We will review it and schedule a
time to talk with you about whether or not this intervention is appropriate for you.
We also encourage you to stop by our practice website, www.ictsonline.com. There
you will find testimonials from people who have been through the program at our
facility, as well as information about the other services we offer and links to
other helpful resources.
Sincerely,
Tara Mulvany, M.O.T. R/L
